No Privacy: Feds to Monitor Your Child’s Fat Index

A bill introduced this month in Congress would put the federal and state governments in the business of tracking how fat, or skinny, American children are, and which children have, and have not been immunized.

Health care providers would be required to determine the Body Mass Index of all their patients in the 2-to-18 age bracket and then report that information to the state government. The state government, in turn, would be required to report the information to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for analysis. Buzzword: “We the People”

“We the People”: Not to be outdone by the Tea Party movement, the progressives/liberals/socialists are jumping on the “We the People” bandwagon. Here’s a great example, from the  Moveon.org April 25 e-newsletter:

“…after consulting with thousands of MoveOn members, we’ve made a decision: to launch a massive campaign to fix our democracy and put We the People back in charge.”

Buzzword: “Democracy”

“Democracy”: You know you are on progressive socialist turf when “Democracy” is used over and over, but America’s true form of government, “Republic,” (see U.S. Constitution, Article IV, Section 4) is never mentioned. Take the “Republic” challenge: see if your school uses the word anywhere, outside the Pledge of Allegience (see “and to the Republic…”)

Buzzword: “Moral”

“Moral”: John Goodlad’s four “Moral Dimensions of Teaching” are widely accepted in schools across the country. Unfortunately, Goodlad’s believes that there are no moral certainties. He writes (emphasis added):

“Educators must resist the quest for certainty.  If there were certainty there would be no scientific advancement. So it is with morals and patriotism.”

He explains further:

“There is a belief by some that there exists…   a ‘correct’ view of the world. This view is incorrect. There is no single worldview that deserves complete acceptance.” (John Goodlad: Education for Everyone: Agenda for Education in a Democracy).

If you have any doubt as to Goodlad’s true feelings toward “traditional” or “Judeo-Christian” morals, check Goodlad’s book out at your library and read a chapter or two. Beware the moralist who denies the moral foundation of our society!
